The Justice for Ricky Reel Campaign and Bookmarks are launching a new book marking 25 years since the death of Ricky Reel.

Sukhdev Reel's powerful and moving book Ricky Reel: Silence is not an Option, will be relaunched in Southall, West London, the heart of UK’s Asian community on Friday 8 July. It was officially launched by then publishers Bookmarks last Sunday on 3rd July at the Marxism 22 festival. In her book, Sukhdev, Ricky’s mother, tells the story of her son Ricky's racist murder in Kingston upon Thames almost 25 years ago and how a litany of police incompetence and outright racism, prevented a proper investigation taking place. Not only that, but the family now know that in the depths of their grief and throughout their campaign, they were being spied upon by undercover police. Sukhdev writes from the heart about her son Ricky and her and her family's determination to fight for justice for him, alongside other relatives who have had similar experiences at the hands of the police.

The Southall launch is organised by Justice for Ricky Reel and supported by The Monitoring Group Group and Southall Community Alliance.

Admission to the launch is free (or by donation) and tickets can be booked here
